Change back to look like windows 7?

I didn't like the way windows was for example when pressing start then something else the menu would build-up I'd rather it went from left to right. Anyways I downloaded something to make the layout look like XP I then saved the page in a favourite but when it changed over my favourites were changed to program so I lost the page. Would anyone know how I could go back?

Is there anyway to change the way the menu acts?

If you had a backup you could restore from it.

You could do a repair install.

You could use a recovery program like recuva to attempt to recover the lost data.
