Does anyone know why dllhost.exe loads and unloads practically every minute?

What is it doing, and how the heck do i stop it ?

I use the old windows xp utopia sounds, and i set it up so load and open programs have a sound associated with them.

Every minute it loads up dllhost.exe and then closes it almost right away.

Another thing which bothers me, when i click on a file one, or a folder, it will sometimes do the same thing, loads up dllhost.exe.

Pretty effing annoying and not needed if you ask me.

But any help would be appreciated.

Edit: Also the Description According to Process Explorer is "Com Surrogate"

Sounds like you may have a Virus. I would scan your machine with a good virus scanner and then for malware.

I have completely scanned my system with adaware and a few other virus scanners i know of and they have turned up nothing.

However, what i find extremely weird, now that i installed ad-ware for the first time, Dll Host is not loading no more? :|

It literally just stopped after i restarted my computer from installing ad-aware, its not loading dllhost.exe no more....

wth?

Now that i think about it, could it be that dllhost.exe, was checking for a virus scanner the whole time?

It stopped loading up once i installed a virus scanner.....

Ad-aware is still scanning my hard drives but it finshed with c:\ a good hour ago.

Has not found a single problem.

Still dllhost.exe has not loaded. The only thing i can figure is that it was windows 7 checking for a virus scanner....

I wish xp had 64bit support with support for all my other old programs, i would so easly go back to xp then have to put up with windows 7 sigh... Why cant microsoft just program good operating systems?

dllhost.exe exists in Windows XP, okay. As it name implies it host DLLs for applications. Whatever application you installed is the cause. Is this even really a problem? Is your computer melting? Why is dllhost.exe bothering you so?

Because it kept loading up every 30 seconds?

Did you read any of my posts / replys in this thread.

Clearly, you didn't read mine. Is this even really a problem? Or are you just manufacturing a problem cause you are bored?

Oh okay. Well i didnt know if it was a problem, thats why i was asking. Had the virus scanner not fixed it. I would have wanted to figure out what was causing it to load.

It has however stopped. It has to of been something checking to see if there was a virus scanner.
