Can one copy bootable ISO image in Win 7?

I have DVD +_RW on my computer that is running under Win 7 x64 Ultimate.

I need to download and create a bootable CD of Koppnix [Linux] to boot another computer that has no internet access.

When I download the Koppnix ISO image I get on my Desktop the choice of either Run or Save to...
At this point If I choose to save to DVD +_RW will it save as an ISO bootable image under Win 7 x64 Ultimate?

Or do I have to download a ISO image copier [freeware] from the internet to create a bootable ISO image disk?

Hello cabbage yes it will save it to the DVD..but.

You need the ISO burned so that you end up with a "bootable" disk.

Doing it that way will simply get you a copy of the ISO saved off your PC.

You need to use either Nero, Roxio, Img burn(free) or a application such as Power ISO, Ultra ISO or Magic ISO.

In other words. you don't save the ISO file to a DVD. I recommend using CDBurner XP for burning ISOs, or IMGBurn.

Just download the iso in the normal way to your downloads folder ( it is already a bootable image ).

Put a blank cd -r in the drive ( don't format it - if Autoplay pops up, just close it ).

Rt click the iso and select open - Windows image burner pops up - just burn it to the cd.

Pretty straightforward.

ImgBurn at 4x speed with Verify always works, however.

and if you dont have this in the popup menu....

... you maybe have installed a plethora of ISO mounters that have removed the "burn iso" entry.

In that case, CTRL-Right Click the ISO, select "open with...->select standard application", click the browse button in the applications dialog and navigate to the WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder and find the isoburn.exe application.

If you selected the always open with this application checkbox, you will from now on see a open with ... -> Microsoft isoburner link

It is important to note that the .iso file itself determines if it is bootable or not...not the app or way it is burned to disc.
