Clean Install W7 Home Premium_Prep

Pardon me.

If my laptop runs both 32-bit and 64-bit interchangably, must I have both .iso's?Or will 64-bit run all apps?I know I have to run 32-bit explorer to access some java apps.

Is there a tutorial I've missed?

Or am I confusing IE 32-bit and 64-bit with W7?

You're most welcome bludgard69, I've been stuck as you many times in my computer life. Tooks me ages to learn Tricks & Parameters!!!:)

-In Internet Explorer 8, Windows 7 x64 install both x32 & x64 IE Browser.

-Windows 7 can be installed in x32 bits OR x64 bits (much flavored for some security reason).

Both are two different things!

-I do not think you can run both x32 & x64 at the same time, but manies Applications still work under x32 bits on a x64 bits based system.

Therefore that's why you can find on x64 platform :

C:\Program Files (x86)
and
C:\Program Files

Or

C:\Windows\System32
and
C:\Windows\SysWOW64.

Here some Comparison:

Unless you are planning to upgrade your RAM to at least 4GB I would install 32 bit Win7.

It is mainly advanced graphics programs like Adobe Creative Suite which can benefit from 64 bit. I sometimes install 64 bit for someone and find it puts every single program except IE8 into the 32 bit program file. And it can be fussy.

You can of course install either with your license, change them anytime you want. You can even try a dual boot to see which you like by comparison. But I would check which drivers Acer makes available for your model since you might need to import some.

Be sure to rightclick scan your ISO download with MSE immediately upon completion.

Am I On The Right Track?

This IS preperation. From the way things are going,it will be months before I try to complete this task.By then my computer will probably be begging for a clean-install!:roflmao:

I found an .iso and downloaded it.
Below are images of what I have-very vague indeed.
ImageBurn copied and verified to DVD.

Does this look at all familiar?

I realy don't want to mess with anything that is not legitamate.
Is there any way that I can verify what I have?

I've got the ACER drivers from ACER Support. And updated BIOS.It flashed fine.
I know there is a ton of other stuff.I'll concentrate on verifying W7 .iso for starters.

Thank you for any insight.

Oh,and a GOOD MOANIN' from S.C.!;)

Some of these ACER drivers are un-needed.I'll do more research.Rather be caught with than without.

If they did provide a "MD5/SHA Checksum" you might want to verify your .iso.

It could looks like this:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit:
Name: en_windows_7_home_premium_x64_dvd_x15-65733.iso
SHA-1: 336779EA6B65F63E11A609B4D021439C47AB315B
CRC: 56D954E4

Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit:
Name: en_windows_7_home_premium_x86_dvd_x15-65732.iso
SHA-1: CC9D8220B2179E784D85BF1EA98D2EE2190D534F
CRC: 5DF6DBA0

Checksums Verifier:

Burn it onto DVD and see if it launch when you insert it in your Cd/Dvd Drive. No need to launch it at reboot to know. Just do it while on your account. You can STOP/CANCEL the Process at any moment.

Keep your drivers safe and try to find some for the Hardwares too. When you'll have finished install Windows 7 Ultimate, you'll be able to smoothly install all your drivers.

Got another one but for 7 ultimate:
crc: 1f1257ca
md5: F43d22e4fb07bf617d573acd8785c028
sha1: 326327cc2ff9f05379f5058c41be6bc5e004baa7

Here a discuss at SevenForums about what it can had happenned:

When you downloaded a file, your not creating it but merely copying it so the hash will match.

The ISO you created from the DVD is not the original file so it doesn't match the original hash, you created that file so it creates a new hash.

If anyone could create a file and have it match another file's signature that was created somewhere else then it defeats the point of hashing altogether

You might know it when you burn the Dvd...if it's wrong. But better check before.

If you downloaded your version Home Premium then you need to check against the HASH for that and not Ultimate: Windows 7 RTM SHA-1 hash / checksums

If not, then you need to unlock all versions in the ISO (using tool I posted earlier) to burn an all-version DVD so you can install your licensed version which will activate with the Product Key on COA.

Use the drivers given by the installer unless there are any missing in Device Manager, or performance dictates otherwise.

During the avalanche of complaints about DR failing to provide student download, MS corrected the situation here: http://gizmodo.com/5391268/microsoft-fixes-windows-7-student-edition-upgrade-problems

Acer has several useless utility partiitons and often a hidden EISA partition which need to be cleaned from HD before install. Boot DVD Repair console or Repair CD, press Shift F10 at first screen or click through to Recovery Tools list to open a Command Line, type:
DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (win 7 HD)
CLEAN ALL
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT=NTFS
ASSIGN
EXIT

This sets you up with one partition. If you want more, or want the 100mb Sys Reserved boot partition provided on unformatted HD's, then use the DVD to create partitions and format.

To get rid of EISA: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/02/29/delete-and-remove-to-unlock-eisa-hidden-recovery-or-diagnostic-partition-in-vista/

Be sure to make your Recovery Disks first so you have a path back to Factory Condition, or save a Win7 backup image of all partitions. You can order Recov Disk set for free from Acer in first 90 days.

I obtained a copy of the W764-bit Home Premium .iso from what was supposedly DigitalRiver.Removed the eicfg-per your post;)-and used imageburn to create a bootable DVD.It was veryfied.I went as far as running the .exe and it went strightway to the W7 install screen.Just as if I were performing a recovery.I got a little nervouse, though, and got out before it was too late.

The problem I have with this .iso is that it in fact did not come from DigitalRiver, but a site with digitalriver content. My dialog with digitalriver has led me to contact MS directly, for I did not attain my copy from Online Store.Of course it was preinstalled. My 90 days are up from Acer, but I've got the ext. warranty.Yet I loathe letting someone else digging around in my Laptop.Banish the thought!

I have made repair disk,system-image ,and a couple other back-up things.

I will study the rest of your post for a while.I am going to contact MS in the AM.Even though I believe I have an unlocked bootable W7 .iso,I really want to make sure it's also legitamate.Call me old fashioned.

:warn:So, are you telling me that practically all drivers needed are on this .iso disk? And that I should only need to use ACER drivers if I need to?I wish I could run all MS.Then as the time passes, tweak here and there to my needs.

During the avalanche of complaints about DR failing to provide student download, MS corrected the situation here: Microsoft Fixes Windows 7 Student Edition Upgrade Problems

ACTIVE
FORMAT=NTFS
ASSIGN
