Solved Location of chkdsk log file after scan

None of the Google results show the correct way to get to this file.

Administrative tools - Event viewer - Windows logs - Application - Click on 'source' at the middle top to sort by ascending/ descending order. Locate 'wininit' and click on it to view.

Thanks guys. Was clicking on Applications and Services instead of Windows Logs in Event Viewer.

The Google result for chkdsk log Win7 at Tom's Hardware said Applications.

Now you've filled it in for everyone.

Very glad to know that 4 hour chkdsk on a 320gb external is clean since I've aborted it several times assuming it's dying. It's just slow, I guess.

I think when chkdsk runs at startup, its logged under wininit. While, when run inside windows, it may be getting logged as chkdsk. Or will it be different for the system drive and data drives? I see that Brink ran it on D: drive.

I just ran it on C: (Windows 7) drive, and got the same. I'll try from the command prompt to see what I get next.

Just wanted to say thanks for helping me locate wininit entry in what is, to a non computer person, a very crowded Event Viewer screen.

Really appreciate it as I was able to view the log..now if I could only understand the log results..lol

Actually, it looked kosher to me..didn't see any "Danger Will Robinson" dialogue.
