Hanging on entering standby mode

My computer won't go into standby anymore. It hibernates without any problems, but now when I press Fn + Esc, the screen goes blank and it just hangs there.

I tried restarting a couple of times but it doesn't solve the issue. Please help me. :(

Thank you for the link but none of the issues mentioned there seem to be related to mine. And I'm reluctant somehow to install fixes that might mess something else up. :(
