20 wasted hours into setting up win7, new problems keep popping up. Now I discover that I can't move files from my Vista laptop to my win7 desktop. I've tried all the fixes that I can find on the web with no success. Microsoft has made all this security stuff so complicated that it is impossible to make rhyme or reason or any of it.

How to I fix this problem. Better yet, can I simply turn off all the network security stuff? It is just too much trouble, like virtually all the security junk that is attached to everything.

File sharing between Vista and Win7 is a little tricky. Here is some guidance. But I would suggest you copy your files in Vista to e.g. an USB stick and then import them from there to Windows7. That is a lot easier.

Sharing with my Vista machine always worked fine for me, never had a problem with it. Perhaps this link will help. How to make Windows 7 work with older Windows versions for networking and file sharing.

If you are running any type of A/V software you may need to uninstall it before sharing will work properly. :)
