Hi Everyone,

This is my first post here and I am hoping that someone will be able to help me. I have a HP HDX9250EA laptop I am upgrading my laptop following so many issues with Windows Vista Home Premium. When I start the Windows 7 ugrade process it starts without any problems and then fails as it comes up with the following (I am trying to upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium):-

Upgrading will affect the following devices and/or programs:

These devices might not work properly after the upgrade. Before upgrading, we recommend updating the drivers for these devices. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel and search for "update device drivers", or go to the device manufacturer's website to search for updated drivers.

  • Human Interface Devices: HP Quick Launch Buttons
  • Storage controllers: ADZMVBKX IDE Controller
  • Mobile devices: HTC USB Sync
These programs might not work properly after the upgrade. We recommend uninstalling these programs before upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel, and search for "uninstall a program". (Note: Programs marked as * can be safely reinstalled after the upgrade.)

  • HP Quick Launch Buttons
I have searched everywhere for the Storage Controller, I have no idea what storage controller this is as I can not find the ADZMVBKX IDE Controller listed on my PC anywhere.

I thought it might be something to do with PowerISO as this creates a virtual drive, however I have removed this from my system and therefore do not think it has anything to do with this, following the uninstall I tried running windows 7 upgrade and again i stopped with the above message.

I also thought perhaps it has something to do with the card reader built into my PC but again, I do have the latest drivers, and cannot find any reference to the ADZMVBKX relating to the Card reader.
Any help that anyone can give me would be much appreciated as I am at a loss with this.

I am also after HP Quick Launch drivers for windows 7 that would be compatible with my HDX 9250EA, anyone point me in the right direction.

I also run Norton 360 v.4.0, would this be causing a problem, I also note that I have now obtained a driver G: CD Rom, my laptop has only got one DVD HD Drive which is drive "F:" I am not sure what this "G:" drive is, pick up as a SCSI drive?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer I attach with this meassage a pdf spec of my PC.

Regards

Silvio

Thanks for the advise,

I was trying to avoid a fresh reinstall as I assume that this will mean I have to load all the drivers and reinstall my software, as I assume a clean reisntall will mean reformating my hard disk?

regards

Silvio

I would not worry about the drivers. They install automatically. And the programs you better reinstall - thus you get the right and latest versions. But that is usually only a couple of hours work (I just did that a few days ago).

WHS is right why fiddle with a upgrade just do a clean install after formatting drive that way you can use the latest drivers and it will be up to date and less bsod issues unless and i say this carefully unless you have some hardware malfunction issues but if it is a clean install every driver is on the up and up then you shouldnt see any errors after i could be wrong but i ussually go that route and i have nothing but succes
