More than likely a stuck sensor, Bushman. I have one that's been stuck from day one. It stays at 40 while the other three are all below, but goes up when the temp goes up.

Kinda the nature of some quads. Nothing can be done, that I know about, but there's nothing to fear from it. Won't hurt anything, but I sort of like things to be accurate. :D

+1

One of mine says 40C all the time. (At least in most temp monitors)
Oddly, the only one that showed them correct was the built in temp monitor on my old DFi board.
But even with it, all other temp programs showed the same 40C core, but load temps were always accurate.

I wouldn't worry about it TBH, especially idle temps. They really don't mean anything anyway.

Run Prime95 blend test and see how the temps look after 30min or so.

the load ones are all that matters anyway.

ah good the thread got moved! i wasn;t sure it should have been posted where i did.... :o

i should clarify, the temps is not STUCK at a certain temp all the time, but it does stay lower than all the other cores.....I ran Prime95 for a week (very stable system i have, never got above 47 Celsuis the entire time) and core 3 was always a few degrees LOWER than Core 0,1 and 2

things i notice during days off, staring at the computer for 20 hours a day.....:D:D:D

It's normal, at least in my experience. I'm not sure, but it might have something to do with where the sensing diode is located on the chip.

Silicon is not exactly a good heat conductor.. core three probably gets the greatest benefit from your cooling fan.. may be as simple as that. Every multi-core system I've ever monitored the temperatures of usually has one core that averages a couple degrees higher than the rest
