As first, I'm new here so let me say Hello everyone!

- My problem is that I'm getting BSOD very densely (every day at least once, if not then twice or so on... max times / day was 3 i think).

- The problem just came... Everything was running fine before and I was using my PC just fine. The system was installed about 4 months ago, and now it started to bsod.
I have reinstalled the OS, but it didn't solved the problem, still getting bsod.

- The first bsod came when I tried to start Skype (version 4.2.0.169). As soon as it finished the loading, got bsod and I wasn't able to start Skype anymore after than bsod, so i decided to download an older Skype version. That one worked fine and stuff, but then later started to get random bsods just when the PC thought it's time to do one :D Then after a few days (one day when I somehow didn't get any bsods) decided to try to put back the newest skype (4.2.0.169) and it worked fine.
Now the random bsods are still occuring ~every day.
Also if I leave my pc turned on while i'm sleeping or while i'm away, it never crashed... so crashes only when I'm doing something.

The fact is that I've used the same copy of OS before everything worked like a charm, and used the same softwares.

- I have the latest video driver from nVidia
(258.96_desktop_win7_winvista_32bit_english_whql.exe)

- And latest sound card driver from Realtek
(Vista_Win7_R251.exe)

What I have done so far (and still didn't solved it):

[August 11, 2010]

- Made a benchmark of my Graphic Card, made it to 85C and everything was OK, no bsod, no restart (btw tried with windows default video driver and with latest installed nvidia driver).
- Tried to don't use Skype, but didn't helped. (Still random crash)
- Checked hardware temperatures, they are the following: Look (Picture)
- Installed latest Chipset Driver (Didn't had before any, and my pc was fine)
- Installed latest LAN Driver (I remember when I was using Vista I was getting random bsods as well, and installing the lan driver solved my problem but this time it didn't.. And I also remember when I was happy that everything is fine - i didn't had to install lan driver on win7 and no bsods :D)

Basic Info:

- Operation System: Windows 7 x86 OEM Build 7600
- Original OS: Not.
- Used Windows Update: Not.
- Age of my PC: ~2 years.
- Age of OS Installation: Not more than 2 weeks.
- CPU: Intel (R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500@ 2.20GHz
- Mainboard: MSI MS-7365
- LAN: Realtek RTL8168B/8111B Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC
- RAM: Transcend 2GB 333Mhz
- Graphic Card: Gainward nVidia GeForce 8500GT 256MB

BSOD comes totaly randomly...I noticed it happend sometimes with playing games (World of Warcraft) and sometimes with starting skype like I said, and now since I don't play that much, it just happens when I'm browsing on internet, watching youtube videos, or just playing music in Winamp... It happens if i don't run skype as well..

The graphic card was at my friend yesterday, and it worked fine (no bsod), although he's using Win XP SP3, but the gpu temperature was around same as in my pc.

Bsod happens the following way: The whole pc freezes, sound is looping, then 1 or 2 seconds and bsod comes.

I have attached the files needed.

Now run a windows update and tonight i'm going to run a memtest86, then as soon as I wake up I'll let you know about the results.

BIG Thanks in advance for any kind of help!

Regards,
Wex.

Hi,

This is almost definitely a hardware problem - 0x124 bugchecks all the way.

That memtest is a good idea.

Also, as you are aware - your graphics card is running far too hot. Hopefully that is not the cause, but I would get it cooled ASAP anyway.

Regards,
Reventon

Yep, I'll definitely get a cooler very soon. It has passive cooling, that's why it's hot as hell.
Now going to memtest and sleep ;p

I'm also thinking about updating my bios (as suggested it the 0x124 thread), but I really don't think it's the problem since I had the same bios before everything was alright.

btw thanks for fast replies!
Coming back with memtest result for a few hours.

Follow the post on BC 124, that I gave you.

If you are going to update the BIOS, be sure you are proficient in that area.

No I didn't overlocked anything, all is working as I have bought my pc.
Except one thing, my cpu is 2.20Ghz and it works on 2.20Ghz... Should I put it to 2.00Ghz or something?

No Bsods yet today, but when I say that, later I'm always getting xD

I wonder if SPTD is causing the issue. I see you have Alcohol 120% installed, which uses that driver. SPTD is causing BSODs in Vista and 7 systems all around.

When SPTD causes a crash, it is not infrequently a 124 error. Be sure to remove Alcohol, then delete SPTD with this installer/uninstaller: DuplexSecure - Downloads

Even the April 2010 version of SPTD causes BSODs.

Got BSOD right now a few minutes ago (ofcourse with same error code)...

- Softwares I was running: Chrome, Skype, uTorrent, and this time (it's the 1st) it didn't occured while listening to music, or any sound coming out from pc + the sound card was muted.

- Now uninstalled Alcohol and SPTD. We'll see.

Edit: Damn double posted :S sorry, my fault...it was accidentally

Nope, SPTD uninstalling didn't solved it.
I'm now really going to believe it's something with my lan...Since it never happend without browsing on web, or without any kind of active internet traffic.
My next step will be turning off my lan and using internet via usb.
Feedback soon.

Thx for tip tho, Jonathan. (typo fixed srry)

Something interesting happend now... Not a BSOD but a simple restart... the pc just restarted without any warning or etc... just like when you press the restart button on your pc.
Does it mean it could be most likely because of gpu's high temperature? It didn't gone under 69C the whole day...

Edit: When I touch the graphic card's cooling gill it's extremely hot... almost can't hold my hand on it...

Edit2: Look at this one... It's while I'm working in Ableton (Music Production Software) and not running anything else in background.

Yes, that GPU temperature is far too hot.

Clean out the dust - aim a fan at it... and get it cool whatever way possible.
