Hi guys I have a dell studio 1558 I've had it for around 3 months now and from day one I've had BSOD's >.<! nightmare so I rang dell and they didnt even know what a BSOD was and asked me to run some diagnostics which came back with nothing.

So they sent out a repair guy to change the motherboard and ram seemed ok for a few hours then BSOD again! >.< nightmare! at this point I was pulling my hair out I've updated the Bios recently and seems to of got rid of some BSOD's but theres still a 0x0000f4 one which keeps appearing

if anyone can help I will be more than grateful and you would make my day as I'm off to uni soon and dont really want to get BSOD's when im half way through writing a report or something. How sucky would that be? lol

Thanks in advance :)
Jammy

Would be happy to help and have a dell myself. First things to do are

1-frill is your system specs if you havent

2-upload the DMP files for us to examine

3-Describe the problem in more detail. Does it happen on boot, while playing games, etc. Is the sytem still the same bloatware as dell sent you etc'

Hey Zig thanks for the reply :D my specs are:

intel i5 core m430
4gig ddr3 ram
512mb ati mobility radeon 545v ati gfx card
dell mobo

Basically its happening all the time :( will happen about 4-5 times a day sometimes usually what happens is it jams up and programs start to not respond I cant access task manager or open anything else other than whats open and then it blue screens and says writing dumps but nothing happens just leaves ... and when i restart my laptop theres nothing in the dump location :(

I did have a problem with the graphics card it mentioned a problem with atisys.dll or something so i upgraded gfx card drivers and havent had a problem since with that bsod but im getting alot of others and dell are absolutely no help and costing me a fortune to call india =( hehe

as for the dumps its not leaving any :( which is where im confused it never has and the one it did leave i left in that spot and it did it again and it overwrote with nothing =\ - CURSES! lol

Thanks again for the reply and offering to help :)

Hi John :)

Thanks for reply again

Heres the files the OS is OEM and the laptop is about 3 months old =) I do have the 3 years advanced warranty with dell but theyre technical department seem to be as much use as a 1 legged man in an ass kicking contest lol

I've attatched the files that the program created in a zip file =D

Thanks
Jammy

p.s please also find attatched an old dump file I managed to find when it did leave a dump file =D (the only time in the BSOD that it said it was actually dumping) since then and before that nothing though :(

The dump file, dated June 25, 2010, pointed to your ATI graphics drivers. At that time, the May 04, 2010 drivers were the latest version available.

Since then, a July 6 version is available. Also interesting is that the main ATI driver, atikmdag.sys, appears to be "Stopped". I must confess I do not understand the ramifications as it relates the the BSOD, but in any case, a driver update should cure it.

Install the latest driver here: https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/920...mobile/10-7_mobility_vista_win7_32-64_ccc.exe

As for the dumps not being generated, I see your page file is less than 4GB, when you have 4GB of RAM. Either let Windows automatically configure the page file, or manually assign it a size of 12GB if that is what the setting is currently at.

See this post for more information: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/78561-enabling-dump-files.html#post687954

Through your event logs, I see Bluescreens constantly, the 0x116 atikmdag issue, like the dump stated.

Read this post for info on that bugcheck: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lo...op-0x116-video_tdr_error-troubleshooting.html

Here is one of the many errors like it:

Here is the description of the stop code: 0x00000024: NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM

Try disabling the page file altogether, then rebooting. The let Windows automatitically manage it again.

Do a disk check. Open an elevated command prompt and enter chkdsk /r.

If the problem persists, follow the BSOD Posting Instructions again.

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:
Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
Zip up the copy.

Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

Sorry Tom, no dumps in his Minidump folder. That's the problem.

Proceed with the Kaspersky removal, and if that doesn't work, I may bring in some more help.
