Display extends out of sight on right?

I can actually drag a folder or file off the display screen on the right and it will become unseen/lost. The only way to get it back is right click a blank area and drag the imaginary box along the farthest point I think is there and then click cut and then paste it back to the usable screen..
This only happens to the right side of the screen, top, bottom and left the mouse pointer stops at the correct edge. Any clues?

Hello Pinger,

Welcome to Seven Forums.

I don't know if this will work for you (I have two monitors so may ve different).

Focus the program by clicking on the icon on the taskbar, then hold the windows key and press the left arrow once or twice (or thrice ;)).

Offscreen Window - Bring it back to desktop - Vista Forums

Please let me know.

Yea this "feature" has been around since Windows 95.

Have you tried closing the program and see if it comes back to its original position when you re-open it?

Not sure we're on the same page, I can take a window that almost covers the main screen and drag it over to the right and it will completely disappear. Shouldn't it stop when it hits the right edge of my screen??
Your suggestions didn't work unfortunately.I can literally have files accidentally get put too far right and lose them..

Tha's what it's suppose to do and something the left side of my display does but not the right... this is the first time I've had this with any version of windows going back to Windows 3.0...
There has to be a fix for this, negates Windows 7's snap and re-size feature..

When I drag a file to the right side of the screen it will go as far as the mouse pointer goes, but as soon as I let go of the mouse button it snaps back so that the whole file is shown on the right side of desktop.Tis is with the 64-Bit version

It seems as though it's acting like there is a second monitor. I have to use the Win+right arrow key to snap to the right side of my main monitor. If I try to drag to snap to the right half of the screen it just goes onto the second monitor.

Just tried connecting using a vga cable instead if the HDMI and it works fine. DVI/HDMI issue then i suppose.
Also if i use the vga cable i get the correct screen resolution instead of the oversize screen which i have to adjust, so defiantly a DVI/HDMI problem.
I can make the window snap by first stretching it to the full size of my screen then dragging it to the right, not ideal but it works:p

Must be a DVI/HDMI problem, I disconnected the DVI cable going to our HDTV and now the right side works as it should.. Another problem I would think that needs to be addressed by Windows 7 creators along with the networking problems I'm battling with Windows 7.

As an update this problem seems to have gone now.
I dont know if it was the plugging in of the vga then plugging back in of the HDMI, or the fact, that i found a realy simple cure for an oversize screen on a HD tv, (change widescreen to Dot to Dot from full), Whatever it was it now works:D

As I said, it is treating the TV as a second monitor. Probably by design. Why would that be a Windows problem and not a graphics card problem? If you fill in your system specs via User CP, that might help.

I think garysgold is on the right track. Have you tried to right-click the desktop & select Screen Resolution, from here you can see if you have your desktop extended (under Multiple displays). If so, just select 'Show display on 1' from the dropdown. This will restore everything that may be on the extended desktop back to the main desktop.

Hope this helps :)

If it's the Nvidia update your talking about I already had that installed, as for the "vga" connection you mentioned I don't have one on my GeForce 7800(only two DVI) both my Computer monitor and HDTV connect via these DVI connections, no vga connections are used or even available on my graphics card. I thought of maybe installing the latest Vista Nvidia drivers for my card and see if that works, as of now I've kept my HDTV not plugged into my graphics card and the computer screen works as it should.

[as of now I've kept my HDTV not plugged into my graphics card and the computer screen works as it should. /QUOTE]
On your HDTV there should be an option to change the widescreen settings. It needs to be DOT to DOT not FULL, that should confine the screen to the actual size of the visible area and not make it over size, which hopefully would mean that the right side is not extended so far.

Hope it helps, it cured my problem.
