A couple of questions.

I built myself a new computer and installed Win7 64 bit OEM on the 1 tb drive. Disk management will not let me shrink the C drive any smaller than 1/2 tb. I would like to shrink it to 100 gigs and create several smaller drives. Is there any way to do this. It would not be a big problem to start over right now as I have install nothing else. Or, will the latest version of Easus partition manager do it? Also is it possible to remove the 100 gig system restore volume that was created?

Second question. Has anyone had any experience with PCMover? I would be moving programs from a Win 32 bit to the Win 64 bit.

Thanks for any help.

Why not try Easus partition manage, see what happens? Nothing to lose and only knowledge to gain, especially if you let us know how it goes :D

MadDad,

Since you would also like to eliminate the 100 mb partition, then I recommend the approach given in this tutorial. Be sure to read the entire thing so that you, and not MS, will decide the size of your C drive.

I thought the only way NOT to get the system reserve partition is if you create the partition from the command prompt before installing Windows 7?

Thats just the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks!!!

Just a thought, has anyone tried this. I put the new drive in my old computer, start disk manager, format and partition the drive, make the first partition active, put it back in the new puter, and install to the C:drive??? Just a thought!!

No. If you want things to work properly follow those links. It works 100% of the time.

Don't start things off wrong, and then make your computer unbootable.

This worked great!! Found one error in the first set of instructions. When in the dos window to set the partition size, 100GB for example, the instructions say to type:

CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY=102400

you need to actually type:

CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400

If you do it wrong you are told how to get to a help screen that straightened me out.

Again Thank you x10

There's no error when done correctly.

"create partition primary=102400MB" adding spaces will get you an error, you do not need to add "size" if you enter it as written.

Ahhh, my error was in not including MB at the end, not adding spaces. It's what happens when in a hurry.
