USB Intermittent Drop Out - Not Power Related
Hi all,
I found this forum looking for an answer to my USBs randomly cutting out, so I apologise my first post is a cry for help.
I have a Samsung np530u3c-a01uk series 5 laptop running windows 7 64 bit.
The problem I'm having is with the USB ports. I have 2 USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 port. I have noticed that when turning on the laptop it can take up to a minute for a usb mouse to be recognised, and once recognised it will randomly lose connection and regain connection. More annoying for my self is that I also dj from my laptop, and I use a Behringer MM-1 which has in it a powered USB hub. After half an hour or so's use this also stops working. What is bizarre though is that all the lights on the dj controller still light up AND the sound card that is plugged into the 4 port hub on the back of the controller continues to provide sound to my amp, BUT the controller no longer gives any signals/commands to the computer until I unplug it, close my dj software, and plug the controller back in.
I have read that a lot of USB issues are around power, but clearly using only one usb mouse, or a controller with a hub and it's own power supply should cause any drain on the usb ports. I have also gone into device manager and unticked the power saving option under "usb generic hub" AND under the power options in control panel, I have disabled the USB power management options. Neither of these workarounds has helped.
I am currently using the USB 3.0 port and for 5 minutes at least, there has been no cut out with the mouse (unfortunately I haven't got the USB hub/dj controller here to test).
So.... Am I left with two duff USB ports? If I uninstall "generic USB hub" from device manager, will it just reinstall without issue? Is it worth doing? Any other ideas?
Any help would be great. Many thanks for reading.
