Solved Mouse double clicks with only one click

I'm running Win 7 Pro x64 and IE11.

My mouse click appears to be highly sensitive and does multiple clicks when I only click once. For example, if I open the calculator and click on the various number buttons, I will get double or triple numbers.

I've done a complete clean-up and I've removed flash player, but the problem still persists.

Is this a common issue and is there a solution?

I don't have one at the moment, but I looking for a good replacement for my Microsoft Standard Wireless Optical Mouse that came with my Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard 1.1.

The replacement mouse will hopefully work with the Keyboard wireless transceiver.

I always try to eliminate recent changes to the system when I troubleshoot. I hadn't installed Flash Player on this clean install and hadn't noticed any problems except for a few websites that require the Flash Player to play videos.

I've only installed Flash Player two times and removed it each time.

Some of these add-ons cause problems and Flash Player is one.

Your problem seems to be caused by a dirtied-out or oxidized (in other words, "rusting") microswitches. Do this, my friend. It works.

My personal tips:
- WARNING: make sure you only pry open the microswitches, NOT removing it from the logic board.
- before you reassemble the microswitches, soak all the copper parts first with WD-40 or equivalent.

Thanks for the information.

I disassembled the mouse and gave it a good cleaning with dish detergent and hot water, followed by IPA with cotton swabs. It was very dirty inside. I didn't have the same style microswitches as indicated on your link, so I didn't disassemble them.

I suspect all the dirt and dust was causing some optical and electrical interference.

The mouse seems to be working better at the moment.
