Does Windows 7 support floppy drives on its own?

I was wondering this as i just found a pack of floppy drives that survived (possibly) our recent flood. I was going to order an external floppy reader since I've not a built-in port, but just wanting to make sure I don't need any other special drivers/programs for the computer to detect it.

Since it is external you might need drivers but if you do the manufacturer should have them.

Have used two different USB external Floppy drives with Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 and no additional drivers were required. Windows had the required drivers natively.
