Help Err2Err3 on first try win 7 upgrade

Remove all other devices but the target HD, follow the other steps given to see if they help.

Can you reimage or reinstall to Vista or XP to do the BIOS update?

The "Detecting Arrays" message normally means there is a RAID configuration between two or more HD's. If this is not the case, make sure your SATA controller in BIOS is set to IDE or AHCI mode, not RAID.

Thank you for more to try, I don't have any way to get back to Vista, and XP was never on the machine in question, and I don't have a full recovery disk to get back to vista, I have always used the " D" Partition as a go to for reprogramming the OS in Vista when it got out of control. a little history, the vista is my wife's computer, and when it got messed up we had a friend that knew some about computers just go back to the factory image and then we brought it up to date with the fixes and SP's one and two from windows. Well the last time was when it all went south and I didn't get into the problem until it was to late. richc 46 helped me on the Vista side until I decided to go to Windows 7, I got the Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade version new at best buy, and that is how I got to this point.. I would like to say I know something about computers but until about two years ago I didn't know how to turn one on, and over the last couple of yrs of my retirement I have messed up my XP many times but being an XP the fix was with in reach. So for the VISTA unit I decided to try and learn more about computers, and I will but it will be slow for me as there is nothing about a computer in my personal logic that adds up. But I am trying, and I thank all of you folks at Windows 7 Forums for helping me. I will read over the next items you have so kindly given me, and keep trying and learning.. Sincerely islandboytoo

Thank you theog I will read it, so far I have run out of things to do with my limited experience, just when I think something is going to work I run into a dead end, I think I am getting to a point where the registry and hard drive has corruption problems and I know the BIOS needs to be repaired (Up dated) and it is getting harder to boot into any repair area, but I will keep looking for a solution... WOW!!! I wish I had seen and read that fix many weeks ago, from what I observed when I took the sides of the HP m8200n there was a significant amount of fine dust, and the fans had build up on all the fins, and the interesting thing was all the symptoms were the same as fellow on the HP support forum. I do believe I have some driver issues, but at this time I have played with it so much that I think I have it in a place that it can't recover from with out an overhaul. I am not really sure but I think I manged to wipe the HHD both C and D sectors and I am almost sure the CMOS needs re flashing, But the bottom line is that I will find some tutorials and read up on how to disassemble all of the parts and learn some more, but first I think I might try to see if there is a path to follow in putting everything back into default and try to get it to boot into safe mode for some uninstalls and testing. The last time I was able to get into memory testing there was no indication of problems, I went through many different tests and all of them came back PASS, but that was almost 10 days ago.. Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Ok I pulled out the CMOS BAT. and reinstalled, I powered up and tried to get into BIOS but failed. I then rebooted and a black screen came up and said windows failed to start, insert windows installation disk and restart. File:\windows\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe Status: 0xc0000221 Info: windows failed to load because the kernel is missing or corrupt... Then I hit enter again and got: windows is loading files. File: \windows\system32\boot\winload.exe Status: oxcoooooo1 Info: the selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.. Then I hit enter again and got Error message.. File: \boot\bcd Status: oxcoooooe9 Info: An unexpected I/O error has occured I then powered off the machine.. Question, What would happen if I bought a full version of Windows 7 and tried to load it? Would that enter the right information into the system to cause a HDD clean install and load all the necessary info for the new OS to open as a new computer would? I have a new copy of Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade for Vista. I have tried to do the clean install and nothing works as it should, I seems to load then it gives me a BSOD I never get to the start screen to continue the install. But I will read over the material and try to find something I missed.. thanks.. IB..
