Pls. check your Network Adapter in Device Manager, any Symbols (X ! or ?) on it?

Do you have the latest driver installed for your network adapter?

Pls. provide an ipconfig /all output for review:
Click on Start => in run or search box type cmd, press enter. From the command prompt (black screen), Copy and Paste these ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt . Please attach the .txt file to be found in your Local Disk 'C' on your next post.

Thanks for the output, however you have a Media Disconnected issue. Did you do the ipconfig /all while it's connected to the router? Is this an intergrated network adapter or a Network Card?
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Marvell Yukon 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 54-42-49-71-65-21
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
What type of AV or Security Software you have installed?

Have you tried using a diff patch network cable? How about moving it to a different router's LAN Port?

Found the following post from a MS support tech on another networking forum, which may help fix your problem.

"Network stacking in Windows 7 was rewritten, and it is different from Windows XP. A network connection established over one interface will not tear itself down, even after a faster interface has been identified.
Only one interface can be used at a time, either wired or wireless. That means the current interface must be disabled, the other interface enabled, and the computer rebooted in order to use the other interface."

Thus, in order to used the wired adapter to connect to the Internet, you must enable the wired adapter and disable the wireless adapter in Network and Sharing Center, and reboot.

Note: Checking the Automatic Metric option in Advanced TCP/IP Settings for TCP/IPv4 will automatically select the network adapter with the fastest connection speed only if "Obtain an IP address automatically" is not selected.

I cannot connect to the internet with my ethernet cable. The signal is broadcasting fine from my router, so I can connect with my wireless card, but I would rather do it directly with the ethernet.
