sound problems with Realtek ALC 882 sound card

I have a HP Media Center PC. the Model number is a1412n I am dual booting xp and windows 7, and in windows 7 I am not getting any sound. When I went to check it out, I realized that the computer was only recognizing the front audio jack. So i plug my speakers into the front jack but it still says nothing is plugged in. It works fine in XP. does anyone have an Idea? I have a Realtek ALC 882 sound card.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi, xprojectd24, and welcome to the forums.

Have you tried installing the Vista drivers from RealTek?

the link that you directed me to would not let me download the drivers.
I think I downloaded the drivers from another website, but I'm not sure whether I got the XP or Vista version

Vista drivers would be your best bet as windows 7 is more Vista then it is XP

i had a problem with ALC 882 sound card (integrated with mobo), driver was recognized by w7,but there was no sound, but i managed it with giving manually drivers from ALC880-882_Vista_V6015306.zip found on Internet (vista x64 driver for alc882) and everything works fine now :)

edit: Realtek High Definition Audio Driver R2.14 for Vista works better.

I have an abit I-N37H mobo with realtek integrated sound and i have the same issue where only the front panel is recognized and no sound comes out of it. i have tried the r2.22 drivers that came out recently to no avail. i am going to try what t2n said and manually load the drivers from ALC880-882_Vista_V6015306.zip, but i don't have high hopes.

edit: ALC880-882_Vista_V6015306.zip didn't work, and i created my own thread for my problem seeing as it is slightly different from this threads one: https://www.sevenforums.com/sound-audio/7916-realtek-only-allowing-digital-output.html

whoops, that edit wasn't supposed to be r2.22, it was supposed to be the ALC880-882_Vista_V6015306.zip.

the drivers i need would be in the vist64 folder right? (i am on x64)

    and i did try 2.14 as well as r1.78, r1.90, r2.16
