Warning - Superantispyware Installer Will Cause BSOD

Tried it twice without and then with compatibility mode - each time BSOD before the installation can complete.
Fortunately you can boot back up again successfully. Good job as SA wont uninstall in Safe Mode.
I had to download and run their uninstaller as it fails to appear in CP > Programs > Uninstall a Program.
I've attached it if anyone else falls victim. It takes a couple of seconds to run and then reboot is necessary.
It's a pity as SA is quite a good anti-spyware agent & is a good last resort against Vundo before going the Hijackthis route.

Was the system infected when you tried to install? We have over 12 million active users, so this is not a common thing to have happen and we like to track down any such issue.

Nick, no it wasn't and I was surprised as I use Superantispyware on all my other OS's.
I remember the BSOD said something about saskutil.sys. If I knew where the dump was I'd publish it but it's probable too large anyway.
Don't forget that Windows 7 is in a pre-beta stage at present.

In the interests of science I just tried to install SUPERantispyware on a virgin Win7 x86 vpc - here is a screenshot the BSOD.

It's likley because of some of the proprietary stuff we are doing in that kernel driver - was this a 32 bit or 64 bit system?

32-bit. The only other protection I had at the time was Avast A/V.

Win7 already has excellent antispyware, Windows Defender, why would you even bother with a 3rd party product?

OK - this time no BSOD but it refused in x86 with the popup "Windows Installer Has Stopped Working - send more info?"
I tried direct installation, saving and then compatibilty mode and even running as Admin, all the same result.

It seems as if it only works on a 64 bit installation.
I've installed win 7 32 bit and 64 bit, but I've only installed software and played with the 64 bit installation so far.
I will try and install in x86 and report back.

Hmmm, sounds similar to my experiences with SEP 11 - One of Symantec's biggest complaints about Vista was that the kernel was locked up too tight for their software (and particularly their enterprise software) to run correctly, and that was one of the things that SP1 fixed for Vista.
I wonder if W7 went back to he tightened kernel code that they originally used for Vista....

Thanks for the info! However, it's not helping me at all...here's why. I upgraded to Windows 7 RC from a Vista Ultimate installation (x86), which already had SA installed on it. Now, whenever I boot Win 7, it's only a matter of seconds before the BSOD appears, and then the computer restarts after 2-3 seconds. I don't even have time to run the uninstaller. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!
Oh, and for what it's worth: this was just an old drive that I use mostly for experimenting with new operating systems - there's nothing to be lost here, so this isn't exactly a vital issue...just annoying as all get out.
