Solved 0x00000057 - printer problem!

After working as a field tech for 30 years and having onsite IT Specialists refuse to try the simple crap first, I am very used to approaching all troubles with the KISS approach.
Keep It Simple Stupid.
Had a guy on here a couple weeks ago refused to try a new cable because it worked for a day or two if he just unplugged and reconnected. Turned out to be a fracture in the cable where the leg of his bed was crushing it. $5 later and all is well. Go figure, the guy that doesn't have all of his certifications was right all along.

One further bit of information - as follows.
On the rogue PC, I disconnected the cable between PC and router. Having a spare wireless adapter in my spares box, I was able to connect wirelessly.
This did not make any difference whatsoever. I went to device and printers, navigated to add printer - selected as required and the printer I wished to connect to appeared on the list.
I highlighted the printer and clicked next - immediately a box appeared saying downloading driver, and again almost immediately this was overridden by another message saying 'windows cannot connect to printer'. Therefore this rules out any problem with the cable connection.

yes - very many times. However I tried again and got greeted by the final message cannot detect printer. Hopefully attached is a very basic diagram of my setup for all to see.

During the course of installing the software do you not get a message telling you to connect the printer to the PC and turn the printer on or were you directly connected to the printer during the software install?
PS There was no attachment to your post above!

Hi Everyone
THIS IS VERY EMBARRASSING:o:o

Let me first say that my wife had a project on the go, that needed the services of the canon iP4500 for a very important colour picture to be inserted on a funeral program. The printer is directly connected to her PC. The last thing I wished to do was interfere with and upset the printer that was working perfectly well for her - so left well alone.

Now that she has successfully finished that job - I went back to a starting point, and re-installed the drivers to her PC.
Wonder of wonders - this immediately put my PC (the alleged rogue one) fully back into service instantly.
It's difficult to comprehend that the 'working PC' was the problem - and the 'rogue' PC was not.

Apologies for leading you all a dance, and many thanks for your interest and advice
Cheers

No need to be embarrased we have all been there before, well I certainly have:o
What a strange result, there must be a reason. This is the sort of thing that can keep you awake at night. Delighted to hear that all is now well and am eagerly awaiting if someone else can come up with an explanation apart from the usual gremlins of course!
EDIT My money's on something to do with the "Sharing" on the master PC!

As Mitchell has said mate we have all been there done that more times than I can count. Windows I find has some weird idiosyncrasies that cannot be explained at times.
A good example is recently the USB ports stopped working on my main machine and the culprit - the Samsung Magician software - uninstalled that and ports all came back - work that one out because it was way beyond me and any logical reasoning.
It was sheer luck another member had seen this before and let me know. So it has happened that you have struck a bug and by luck sorted the issue.
