This drove me MAD for almost a weak now. Everytime I tried to restore my system image to another hard drive it would give me this error.

As others may have the same issue and searching the internet did not turn up this solution I thought to repost this here. It can be usefull.

Basically, when booting from a USB and asking to restore the (stupid) system thinks it has to restore to the USB stick which is offcoarse impossible. Taking out the stick right before clicking 'finish' yank out tho usb stick where you booted from.

i found this here: Error code 0×80070057; "the parameter is incorrect" when restoring a Win7 system image | aRiver's pad

You my friend are a lifesaver! Excluding the usb stick didn't do the trick apparently. Who would've known?!

Thanks for sharing!

Registered just to say thank you!

May be almost two I years since you posted, but finally ended a day's worth of frustration for me. Have been wanting to keep a nice clean vanilla install of Win7 (took 2-3 days of windows updates to get to that status) whilst messing up my system trying to dual boot Win10. Thank you.
