I actually just did a mobo switch and am now using a Celeron 2.6 w/a gigabyte board. I did everything possible I could think of.... bios updates etc etc.

So runnin 7 on the new setup w/the DVD backup copy Digital River sent that I ordered. It did only work when I booted with the CD though. It wouldn't work when I ran it inside Windows... I've got some Windows Installer problems now though. I think its simply a permissions problem tho, cos admin works fine with installing anything.

Even though its new, are there any new updates for Win7 for the board? I'm not sure if Asus provides tech support free, but maybe its an issue they can guide too on. I didn't have patience and had the other board so I took the easy way out. I still would like to find out what I need to do to get Win7 on my AMD Asus board.

I think next time I'm only going with the full version of Windows, and going retail. I have a feeling the upgrade part might be an issue. I keep hearing full versions doing fine but I could be wrong.. unless its a digital river only thing. They're less than helpful!

I feel your headache, I spent 2 weeks on my issue and lots of bruises from my desk on my forehead (jk.....)

Welcome to Seven Forums aravinda.

Have you tried the suggestions given in this thread?

Many good ones, after you try these, let us know what you tried and what the results were.
Be specific, the more details you give the better we can understand and help.

Please give us more details on your system specs.

Are you installing Win7 32bit or 64bit?

I would start by disabling 'Cool n Quite', on your MOBO it's called Fan Xpert.

Check all of your connections, just to be sure.

Let us know your progress.

Getting same error... I'm stumped.

I posted a comment in another thread about this issue, as I'm having a similar if not same problem.

http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/43684-2-different-errors-win7-set-up-2.html#post484762

Trying to install Win 7 Pro x64 on an HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop, but consistently get error 0x80070570 if I try a clean install and 0x80070241 doing upgrades from Vista x64. Please seem my comment on the other thread if you can offer any advice as I explain everything I've tried there in detail. It's frustrating as I've successfully installed Windows 7 x32 on a Dell Mini 9 and x64 on 4 other computers (2 desktops and 2 other laptops). On one of the laptops with the x64 install I had some issues, but nothing like this.

If you have Vista installed already - there is another way - extract the install .wim from the .iso. Onto the root of C makes it easier - so the path is C:\Install.wim

Use Imagex to extract the install.wim onto a partition you have made for 7. Pro will be 3,

View attachment imagex.zip

( copy imagex.exe into C:\windows\System32 )

e.g. imagex /apply c:\sources\install.wim 3 z:\

(replace z with the partition letter you want to install 7 on)

Then from an elevated command

z:\windows\system32\bcdboot z:\windows

Mark z active. Restart.

Bad ISO

The third ISO I downloaded worked. I performed the upgrade from within Vista x64. I downloaded it on a different computer then the first two. The ISOs were downloaded from Digital River via the win741.com offer.

Thank you SIW2, by following your process I was convinced the ISOs were bad since the expansion of install.wim kept failing on different computers using the bad ISO.

Before I could calculate the SHA1 hash on the first ISO I deleted it (Though I have some DVDs burned from it). The values on the last two differ with B being the one that worked. Note that I include a third value C from another Win 7 x64 Pro ISO that I just dug up and still had (Wish I would have found it earlier). This ISO I also downloaded from Digital River for another person when upgrading their desktop several weeks ago. It's value also differs. Anyway, at this point download problems and/or local network or drive transfer issues must explain variation and corruption.
