1 min. Blackscreen between Windows Splashscreen and Login

Hi,
You might check your boot priorities ?
See if the cd/ dvd drive is first in line if it is make the disk 0 as first or the ssd.

I have fast or quick start disabled and the only real delay is with the asus or acer.. logo boot options screen.

Everything is fine with my boot priorities.
Boot order is ssd (disk 0) first then hdd (disk 1).
I have disabled boot from cd a long time ago in the bios.
I did not change any of these settings for years.

Im not suffering from the blackscreen since i first installed windows a few years ago on this pc, it appears someday in spring this year for the first time.
I dont think any of these basic questions will find the error, because if it is something like this i would suffer from blackscreen since day one and not since spring this year?
How can it be that the 1min. blackscreen disappeared for a couple days and then comes back without changing anything?

Hi,
Not sure like I said there have been way too many kernel mode driver updates lately

If you want to try not sure if you have a raid configuration going with the other disk but I would try to move or really copy the boot loader to the C partition with easybcd
Bootmgr - Move to C:\ with EasyBCD

If it doesn't make any difference you can restore the system image and be back where you were before.

Just out of curiosity what is that 500MB partition for? am wondering because usually it is around 100MB how did you prepare this drive for install.

For your info.

Some brand do have differences in size.
My Toshiba L630 is using 1.4GB on the first partition. (Waste 1.3GB)
But there are the same sets of files of the first partition, in the C:\ drive.
Then i removed the first partition and use the C:\ as 1st partition with boot, system, etc.
There is no problem in booting up.

Hi,
There is a large difference in a system reserved partition and a oem system restore partition :)

Lost of 15 GB storage space is a lot.

The actual partitions in the HDD is.

Partition:

1. Boot files only = 1.4 GB

2. OS active system. Include all boot files & folder. edit:

3. Recovery partition = 14 GB

Now, i removed both partition 1 and 3, leaving only the OS as Active, System, Boot, etc.

So far, not problem.

I usually do clone the Windows 7 to another HDD, with both Boot files & Recovery partition.
I am not working, so there is no important data to worry.
Only worry is the original purchased, with Licence, for quite a number software & application.

Even if there is a issue, i do have the Recovery discs bought from Toshiba service center.
They required the actual laptops (2 laptops L630 & L735) in order to provide the OEM Recovery discs.
Self copy cost S$35 (rate: Singapore dollar $1.00 = $0.73 US, current value) per set.
They do it for you S$100 per set.

Having bought another 2 laptops, which is intent for testing purpose; (my hobby)

Eric.
