$100 budget

i have a better suggestion. Take that $100 dollars, put it into some savings, and save it. Add some more $100 dollars to it as you can and build it up. That way you can get something decent.

Yes I think adding a SSD would help greatly in speed though if you're into gaming maybe find a used GPU for $100.

What's with the SSD anyways? Only thing I know it helps is loading times, other than that it's minimal or same results with a mechanical hard drive.

It depends on how much time this particular user spends in graphics intensive applications such as games. A faster gpu won't make much difference when doing "normal" computing tasks such as email, surfing the web, word processing, spreadsheets, etc... However, an ssd will speed up ALL disk accesses so the OS will be snappier, and programs (including games) will load faster but also any subsequent disk accesses will be faster such as retrieving additional game data.

Again, only $100 to spend? SSD. Have a bit more to spend? SSD + graphics.

However, the advice given by Logicearth above to simply put that $100 in savings and add to it in order to save enough for a better machine is probably the best use of that $100.
