Hi there,

I am currently experiencing some issues with my computer at the moment, I'm sick right now so I am just wanting to gather some information before I tackle anything,

Recently I have been trying to play Fallout 4, Battlefront and CoD Blackops 3, I was getting some real bad stutter, freezing I thought maybe it was my graphics card drivers, alas it was not so I was looking into my CPU usage in the task manager and all 4 cores were 100% completely locking my computer up. My cpu idle temp is 25 and then when playing games it's over 70, So all together I have stopped playing games to prevent any further damage potentially. It has never happened before with previous titles just been getting some real nasty fight with these 3.

Could it also be AMD graphics drivers causing problems, as I have read that most people with AMD cards are having issues with some of those titles.

Specs:
i5-4690k
R9 390 8GB
16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
120 ADATA SDD
2TB Seagate HDD
700Watt Power supply.

Any insight into this problem would be great, all I can think off the top of my head is checking to see if the cooler is still on properly or if the thermal grease needs replacing, However like I said I was never having any issues prior.

Thank you all!

Well now that I have gotten a bit better, I managed to dig into my computer I rearranged the cords cleaned up the fans then removed the cpu cooler and had a peak, started to look like area's of the thermal paste had started turning black on one side getting close to the centre. Cleaned up the paste reapplied it and put everything back together, computer seems to operate faster, idle times were reaching 50 degrees before hand now they are down to 30 degrees. CPU load seems to have gotten better. Sorry for the thread as if I just had went ahead and did what I was asking I would have figured it out.

Thanks though!

I actually wanted to update this thread just in case someone might be running into the same issue, the problems returned shortly after I had marked this thread solved, I decided to dig into my motherboard bios and found out that my motherboard had set all the fans to the smart fan option which was capping the fan rpm's to about 700-800. I just unticked those options and my rpm's shot up to about 1800-1900 for my CPU cooler and my temps dropped slowly down to a normal idle temperature.

I have an MSI Z97 gaming motherboard, I forgot to mention that in the thread so if anyone is having similar issues to this, this may be the cause. Sorry for the double post.
