I've seen this topic around in various forms, but I figure I should post a new one. Also, this topic has to do with Gaming and Virtualization.

Recently, I've been trying to run an old game (Tom Clancy's SSN (1996)) on Win7 64 bit, but to no avail. 16 bit tech is a no go on the newer OS. So, I bought the Win7 Pro Upgrade so I could get Windows XP mode and try that to see if it worked. I was able to install the game, but when I tried to run it, I ran into some problems. First problem was the game crashing a little into the startup. I solved this by right clicking, using "Run As," and selecting the current user. This got me past the intro, but then I then ran into some graphics trouble. The game runs in the background, but their is no image. There is just a small glitchy rectangle in the top left of the screen. Also, the intro movies that do play are all greenish again due to graphics issue. Anyone have any idea on a workaround or if it's not possible to do anything? I tried running the compatibility settings too, but that didn't fix the problem.

Have you tried something like Virtual Box, install an earlier OS like 95, 98, 2000 or XP and install the game on the virtual OS and run it from there?
