Hi,

I just recently installed 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate, and thanks to sevenforums have got almost everything working fine. :)

I have Norton Internet Security 2010, and sometimes (not always) when I start up the system, there are 2 icons of it in the tray. I don't like anomalies, and I restart so that it shows just one.

Any idea why this is happening? Is there any way to solve it?

Thanks a lot.
JaX

Hello JaX,

I do not use Norton, so I'm not sure if it may just be there to indicate that Norton it performing some other action (ex: updating or scanning). However, you might see if resetting the notification area icons to see if that may help.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thanks Brink for the quick reply..
I will try this out the next time I see two icons, and post an update.

As for updating and scanning, no, Norton never has more than 1 icon in the tray.

Some times you may notice 2 icons in the tray, though as you hover over one if not the other one should simply disappear, its more of a minor bug. It doesn't mean there is 2 processes of Norton being ran.

Now, if you hover over both icons with your mouse pointer and both seem to remain there, then I may be wrong.

I think that is not specific to Norton and is some Win7 flaw. I have two WinPatrol icons but only one WinPatrol running. I am hiding them, then I don't have to look at them all day long - LOL.
