Is it possible to get Windows 7 to use 2 keyboard BUT where the 2nd keyboard has separate inputs associated with it?

This is regarding a flight simulator, where i want to use a 2nd keyboard as an input panel, effectively doubling my assignable keys.

Is there some hack, 3rd part app or other way to do this in Win7?

Thanks for any ideas or help.

There are quite a few macro devices available for the gaming market that I think you might be very happy with.
SideWinder
Comes to mind , there are also mouse like devices with 20+ keys that you can program anyway you want on them.

I would consider this over a second keyboard, which just sounds space consuming.

Thanks, yes that is an option.

But i have a wireless keyboard collecting dust that would be perfect for my needs. I suppose I'm after some software that I can assign new inputs to a 2nd keyboard that Windows will recognise. One of the main reasons i want to use a keyboard is that i want to emulate a input panel that is effectively a keyboard.. see image below.

Any ideas.

I found this.. (in case anyone asks the same in the future)

HID macros

Key features
  • manage multiple keyboards/mouses connected to one PC
  • different key on different keyboard has assigned it's own command
  • mouse buttons on different mouses can be also used as macro trigeer - including mouse wheel
  • when a key activates macro, it's own beahvior (e.g. sending letter code to windows) is deactivated
  • macro can send another keyboard keys, launch application or send command to FSX via SimConnect
  • when no macro is assigned, keyboard/mouse works as usual

Limitations
freeware - no warranty
works only under XP or Vista

Need to test it in win7.. but if it works in Vista i suspect it will work in 7. (UAC is always off for me)
