Well, Symantec requires a subscription, those results may be only for the box and CD in there. I wouldn't trust those results...

Built my first computer (8Mhz 8088cpu, 640K RAM, 20MB HDD, 2 360K floppy drives) in 1985 and have been building them for myself, relatives and friends ever since.
I saw that but wasn't sure if I understood it correctly.

Huh... I have my disc from 2010... Think I should give it a go? For next year, I guess, I already ordered a 3-user license on Newegg for 2011 for $30. (Don't bother looking for that; they sold out)

If you have a valid key you can go to Norton and download the newest version and use your valid key. The keys are good for one year from first use and are good for new versions. So a 2011 key is good for the 2012 version. Download the 2012 versions here.

Norton Internet Security. -- http://www.norton.com/nis12

I have 70 days left on my NIS 2012 (updated from 2011) subscription and a short while ago I found NIS 2011 on sale, so when my subscription runs out I can use my new 2011 key and get another year, and get a free upgrade to 2013 next September.

$2 per pc for a year of Norton. THAT'S INSANE! :mad2:
I can't bear to think of all the money my parents have wasted on buying the $80-120 sets for years...

I always look for a sale with rebates. The last one I bought was $9.95 after rebates for NIS 2011 3pc's. Then a few weeks later it was FREE with rebates. But I am set for about 14 Months and then 2012 will go on sale before 2013 comes out.

I strongly recommend not to buy licenced software off eBay. In the Norton Community, we've had people who bought Norton off eBay come to us and say that after their product key and Norton product had been working fine for a few days or even weeks, they were informed that their product key had been locked because of fraudulent use.
Some people are extraordinarily lucky and have no problems when they buy Norton off eBay. They belong to the minority.
It's worth waiting for Norton products to go on sale in official and reliable stores and buy them with the certainty that the product is legit and fine. And if you're not happy with the product, then you can ask for a refund within the specified time limit and usually get it without issues.

I also agree. There are some good buys but they are few and far between.

I have seen stories here about buying technet and msdn licenses from ebay
and when MS finds out, they put the licenses in their bad file. The next time
the user tries to update, they get the bad news.

As Many have said "If the price is too good to be true, It probably is not good"

or valid.

I have dos 6.22, wfwg 3.11, win98, 2000 and xp VHD's available for testing. MS's Virtual PC works great.
Hmmm, done it at least 4 times over a number of years and never had a problem. Bought from a store that had a high % of good user reviews. Registered with Norton online. I also scanned it with malwarbytes before I installed it. I meant to say 2011 and upgraded to 2012. I will definitely do it again.

Norton Internet Security one year protection for three personal computers was available free at Newegg.com after a mail-in rebate in August 2011 for a while and again in September 2011 for a while.

In September 2011, at FRYS.com, you could get "NORTON TRIPLE PACK - INTERNET SECURITY 2011/ GHOST 15/ UTILITIES 15" for free after a mail-in rebate.

Right now, you can buy Norton AntiVirus one year protection for one personal computer for $6.99 from the Symantec store: Best deal Symantec Norton Antivirus 2011 - LogicBUY

Norton Internet Security 2012 3-PC 3-Year download - $42.95.
