Solved 2 PSU's with Add2psu adapter

Anyone have the Add2Psu adapter for using two or more PSU's? Doing a cheap upgrade to my XP box I needed a higher wattage PSU. I found a lightly used Rosewell 630 watt unit, very cheap $25, and was thinking adding my existing 400 watt PSU would give me over 1K watts, not that I need it.

The 630 well do the job, the 400 was not enough for the new/used X1900XT gpu. Read the Rosewell review.

Seems a bit overkill, you just need to bridge pins 14 and 16 from one PSU to the other, Have the main one powering the board and PSU, have everything else powered by the secondary one.

Overkill is putting it lightly. I just hate tossing a good 400 watt psu. My DFI mobo does have two additional 12V connectors for additional voltage.

Just keep the 400 for a spare. It makes a great test unit if you think you have a PSU problem.

4+4 pin, non molex for supplementary CPU i should imagine. If the case will take 2 PSUs then I would (not with that adapter though) Again I would not connect 2 seperate PSU sources to the same board, you risk ground bias causing stability issues.

I would also note that having 2PSUs in a small(ish) case will produce a lot of extra heat.

This would be the best and smartest option as we go through parts like no other

Spare parts always pay for themselves in the long run this wouldn't be any different you will just extend the life of the other PSU in case something goes wrong

Then think about this when you have to RMA that PSU or have to change it out you have the other Buddy as a back up and he will jump right in where you left off and that my friend would bring stress down a bit and the worry about the replacement wouldn't be that bad

All good points. It's appears from my Google Fu that most multi PSU users use one PSU to power mobo, and slot devises. The second to power fans, lighting and additional HHD's. It's an official spare now.
