I took my pc to our resident it guy to take office 2010 off and put office 2007 back on. Instead of doing that he put a whole new windows 7 on and I lost all my programs and other programs files. When I restarted my pc and pressed F12, it showed there are 2 windows 7s on. My old 1 with all the files and the new he put on. Now my pc is extemely slow because of the memory its taking up. How do I remove the Windows 7 he put on without having to format and reinstalling everything?

Post a screen shot of your Windows Disk Management screen.

Or take it back to the resident IT guy and have him fix it.

Hello Arina, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Could you post a screenshot of your Disk Management (diskmgmt) window showing the layout of all of your HDD's first so we will be able to give you more accurate instructions. :)

For now, here are some real basic instructions on how to go over for now until we see the screenshot:
  • Select and boot into your original Windows 7 installation. Most likely, it will be the second one listed in the Windows Boot Manager screen.
  • In the Boot tab of msconfig, change the original Windows 7 to be the default OS to run at startup instead, and delete the new Windows 7 from the list. By default, the new Windows 7 would currently be listed as the default one since it was installed last.
  • In Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc) check to make sure that your original Windows 7 partition or it's "System Reserved" partition is marked as Active. This is what we need to see the screenshot of first before you do this to make sure that we have you mark the correct one.
  • Delete the new Windows 7 from it's HDD or partition that it was installed on.
  • Restart the computer to see if you only have your original Windows 7 now, and that it boots properly. If it doesn't boot properly, then use your Windows 7 installation disc to do a startup repair for the original Windows 7.

Arina,

That 1st screenshot of Disk Management is a bit hard to read.

Could you also open the D: drive in Windows Explorer and post a screenshot of it? This is to help confirm if he installed the new Windows 7 onto the D: drive, and make sure that it's not part of a OEM factory recovery partition.

Yep, he installed the new Windows 7 to your D: drive.

If you have not already, be sure to create a set of Acer Recovery Media first. Hopefully he didn't destroy your abililty to do a factory recovery by installing on your D: Data drive like that.

Next..... (links will show how to if needed)
  • Select and boot into your original Windows 7 installation Acer C: . Most likely, it will be the second one listed in the Windows Boot Manager screen.
  • In the Boot tab of msconfig, change the original Windows 7 C: to be the default OS to run at startup instead of D: , and delete the new Windows 7 D: from the list.
  • Format the D: drive to delete the new Windows 7 from the D: partition.
  • Restart the computer to see if you only have your original Windows 7 now, and that it boots properly. If it doesn't boot properly for some strange reason, then you could use a retail Windows 7 installation disc or system repair disc to do a startup repair to fix the MBR to be able to boot to your original Windows 7 afterwards.

That wouldn't be the same, but that's ok. You should be fine to do the steps exactly to remove the new Windows 7 without issue. :)

I would recommend to create a system repair disc first just to be safe in case you may have to do a startup repair.

Where did you get your copy of Windows 7 from, and what did you use to install it with?

The Windows 7 Activador.exe folder on both C: and D: indicates that you have a illegal torrent copy of Windows 7 installed.

Are yoy serious? I took it to a franchised computer store here and I bought all my software instore, then their IT guys took it to the workshop and installed it there. It would explain why I can't get hold of the guy to fix my pc but you'd think better from a store... I have my cd and cover with the official seal with keys and numbers...

I would recommend to take it back to that store along with your receipts and ask them what's up with that. If you Google Windows 7 Activador.exe, it comes back with nothing but illegal torrents.

In this case, I would recommend that you backup anything that you do not want to lose, format the computer, and do a clean install of Windows 7 with your legal installation disc. You do not want to have an illegal copy installed with who knows what else with it. For example, malware.
