This is all old hat for most everyone here, but for me this is brand new!
What happened was my powersupply started putting out abnormal voltages & Killed my Badaxe II mobo so I got an ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo. If you haven't noticed, this older Core 2 Duo/ DDR2 Tech choices in mobo selection is becoming very limited since the i Core series have come out.
Anyways to make a long story as short as possible...
After I got the new mobo I got an email from CoolerMaster informing me I was 1 of the 10 Grand Prize Winners in the Summer Giant Giveaway Contest!
So I won a new 800w Silent Pro Gold PSU (perfect timing) & V6GT cooler!
Seemed like a shame not to add in a Core 2 Duo E8400 to the system's upgrade since they cost so little now so I did that too along with a new 4GB kit of G.Skill DDR2-1066 RAM.
Btw, they stopped making the C0 & C1 revisions for the E8400 so all they sell now is the E0 revision!
Overclock is exactly as you'd expect for the system...
4.0GHz & 1780 FSB. CPU-Z Validator 3.1
Even though this is old now, its still a good gaming system!
Also, the V6GT CPU cooler was so big that I had to cut a hole in the side panel for it to stick through as it wouldn't fit with the panel on otherwise! LOL
The E8400 never gets above 108F/42c at full load & idles a couple of degrees above ambient (75F/24c) room temps!
Overkill cooling for this CPU & fantastic considering I got it for FREE! hehe!
End of story...
