TreeSize reports that in my C: drive I have 20GB of files and in my I: drive i have 40GB files all with no extension. It does not seem possible to show where these files are in Windows Explorer. I would like to know what they are so that I decide whether to delete them.

Don't just delete them. They may be keys. Until they can be shown or displayed, leave them alone. Can you identify the folder?

No, Treesize does not identify folders for no extension files. I'll post a screen shot

What do you guys make of 20Gb and 40GB of no extension files? As I said I cannot see any way of getting Treesize to show any of these files in explorer. I'm stumped

I think the software may be a little substandard for determining disk content. That could be Restore points. Does your list(s) contain an entry for System Volume Information? You may be over worrying about them. The numbered types look a lot like what many recovery programs create when they find a disk area used but no file index entry. Like software that recovers deleted files.

I'm hesitant to suggest a disk/file recovery program I use to examine disks since it can easily destroy a disk if misunderstood or misused. It will show all files written to the disk including many of Windows' undocumented (special) files. It goes beyond the usual "hidden system" files. And most Hex Editor programs won't even show those.

What recovery programs do/did you use? Change the size of your restore points and see if the size of those files is reduced. That would be one way to check them.

You could try to use Folder Size, the free version, and see if it provides details for the unknown extension(s) in TreeSize.

There's quite a few files and folders that Windows won't allow you to access. (Or programs) The image below shows some on my Data Disk. This is why it would be most unwise to remove files/folders ad hock without knowing what they are. The System Volume Information folder is blocked in yellow and as you can see is large. It's full of files with no type. The files blocked in red are system files that also have no type. There's another special folder that is "invisible" to users called !Lost and Found! but it doesn't show on this page of the display.
