2nd disk drive not showing up

ive just installed a brand new second sata disk drive (data and power leads are connected) but its not showing up as an available drive. Is there anything else I need to do for windows to detect the drive ?

Is the drive displayed in Disk Management?

Right click (My) Computer
Click MANAGE
On left side, select Disk Management

ASSUMPTION - You see the disk now.

Right click the "new" disk and create partiton and format it.

thanks guys, I managed to figure it out in the end. Still new to windows 7 (in xp it would automatically appear)
