Been trying to install 3d max 2009 on the retail Win 7. Everytime it attempts to install backburner I get a message telling me that a program is running - in this case monitor.exe.
Ive done a search of my system and cant locate such a program so I assum its to do with the backburner. Unfortuantely I cant install 3d max itself because it attempts to install backburner first. Anyone no any cure for this?
The message comes up when backburner is attempting to check the resources before installing.

Yes - sure. alt+ctrl+del to bring up the task manager. Click on the processes tab and find the monitor.exe process. click on it then on the end process button.
Not sure why this should have been a problem in the first place but it worked for me :)

Thanks for your answer. :)

I also found through autodesk AREA forums that I have to turn off the Mental Ray satellite to make it install (for that kind of installation problem).

And it worked. ;)

Thanks again though. :)
