Z390 USB install issue 12 hour rabbithole already!

Problem:

USB flash drive gets stuck at "CD DVD device driver missing blah blah" - USB keyboard and mouse work fine up to this point in the windows 7 install.

Z390 Aorus + 9700k

I've chased chinese drivers, read 100's of pages of threads, installed 7update and added drivers to my boot and install.wim

Like I've tried everything, next step is to PM everyone in those old threads and beg them to send me the drivers that work since all the threads always point back to the one thread where the chinese hacker dood took down the link.





If you have the drivers please hit me up, I'm dying for a solution here that doesn't involve having to track down an elusive dude, get a baidu account, install strange software and have to translate forum threads...

Thanks to this utter nightmare of 12+ hours of a wild good chase, I'm finally giving up at 5 in the morning

After reading more posts about slipstreaming and ISOs and such, I think I'm going to try this ISO from Mega that a kind gentleman linked to... wish me luck!

If this works, that will be aaaahhhhhh-mazing!

Use this Update your Win 7 installation media

You can run it without the simplix update pack if you want. Then it will only add the usb3 stack and nvme support to win7 installation media. It ports the win8 usb3 stack into win7 boot.wim and install.wim.






An alternative some people have used is a cheap PCIe USB3 card which have win7 drivers. You shouldn't need to do that if you use the 7 updater linked above

Before we figured out using the win8 usb3 stack, canonkong (xiaofeng) had modded some drivers which could possibly be used instead of the win8 stack. View attachment canonkong-win7usb3x64.zip

No. It is much better to use what I have advised.We can provide batch files and tools which will update and add drivers to their own installation media.

We don't like linking to Frankenstein isos made by people we don't know. In addition, that iso might work for your specific machine, but it might not be as universal as what I have already provided.

That is why we put in the time and effort creating things such as this Update your Win 7 installation media

I have just looked at the iso you used.

A tool called ntlite was used to integrate the exact same canonkong modded drivers I posted




That might be fine for your 360 board, but the win8 usb stack is better because it works for more boards and also supports uasp.

The win8 stack seems to work for just about everything, which is why canonkong no longer suggests using his previous mod .
