3GB Switch [Solved]

I'm running FL Studio 10 and I want to extend its memory using the 3GB switch. Whenever I type "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072" or "bcdedit.exe /set IncreaseUserVa 3072", I get the same error that reads:

"An error occured while attempting to reference the specified entry. The system cannot find the file specified."

I'm guessing it's because for some reason, I don't have bcdedit.exe.

Any help?

You might want to just switch to 64bit. You'll be able to use more of your RAM that way, assuming you have 4GB+.

For some certain reasons related to the software I use, upgrading to 64bit is something I will not yet consider. I have 4GB installed and would like my issue solved, not a workaround I could have thought of myself.

If that doesn't have what you need this older free version of VistaBootPro may do it:

Thanks. I will try these programs tomorrow. It's 3 AM and I'm tired, lol.

I hope this works; 2GB limit of memory in music making really sucks, especially when I asked my dad for a RAM upgrade for the sole purpose of making better music, only to find out I need to screw with Windows settings and cmd to get it working.

Okay, so I downloaded the BCD Editor, and was a little bit overwhelmed by all of the options. All I want to do it allocate more memory (3072 mb, 3gb) to FL Studio 10. Which option should I pick/if I have to add a new one, what do i add and step-by-step howto?

I really would like help here. Either on why bcdedit in cmd is giving me that error, or how to use the BCD edit program.

Also, how do you send messages to other people? Seems to be disabled on this forum or minimum post count requirement.

as for the Gui I don't know if they have help. I'd have to look through it same as you.
I would search on whatever params you were trying to use initially.

I tried to find bcdedit.exe download on MS site but had no luck. Did you search your entire drive for the exe file?

Also I would think that the Gui utilities depend on bcdedit.exe being there. The install or running to get info should display an error if the command line exe is missing.

Found 2 BCDEdit/exe. Both are from the programs you linked to me. None found otherwise. Maybe it WAS because I was missing that exe.

On my system there's one in a EasyBCD folder. I must have downloaded it at some point. But there's another that's a hard link to some jazz in one of the system folders. Maybe that link got deleted somehow.

Are we sure that program was compiled LARGEADDRESSAWARE and can use the additional GB of VA? It's worth noting that doing this has no effect on the amount of RAM the program uses, only the amount of virtual address space Windows gives the process on start.....
