3TB HDD restricted in "initialize disk" to 2048.

Plugged in the 3TB HDD & win7 offered two formatting options. It indicated that #1 was the way to go. I clicked OK.

Now its telling me that #2 was the right choice.

You need GPT for drives larger than 2048

Can I back-track & do it again?? how?

Real life is not the same as that guide. Its div. into 2 unallocated spaces. See attached.

If you did option 2 in that guide then the "clean" command might have created one unallocated section.
If it did not then you would need to use the "clean all" command. It takes longer, but "all" means all in that one.

However, in option 1, if you finish the task and create a GPT disk, then once back in Windows I would think it would be as simple as creating a new volume and then expanding it into the remaining unallocated space. You could not do that with a MBR disk, but you should once it is a GPT disk.
