Hi,

I've got a costumers computer here that is having the exact problem as mentioned in the link above.

Only difference is that my laptop just had its motherboard replaced because the graphics-card was broken.

How to go on and solve it, I mean there is no real point to send it back to HP at this time now that the costumer has already waited for ~a months time, or is there?

Should I provide y'all with some more info?

In the BIOS there are no settings for the memory remapping that I need to do.

I've searched the internet and found that I should have to do BIOS modding but from what I can tell is that if I'm not careful I might destroy the laptop. But I'm surprised that HP would fail on this.

Any suggestions are welcome at this point!

Hi,
About all I can think of is a bad stick of ram or not seated properly :/
It's an easy thing to re-seat the sticks and see if that is it or use Crucial.com's search for upgrades for an update product.
Ram is pretty cheap in laptops it's just a matter if they have it.

Unfortunately, it is not just me that has had this issue, I've read dozens of threads about this issue and it seems that HP has locked a bunch of options in the BIOS so you cannot fix this by yourself, you have to send it to HP.

Though there is an option but it's not ideal, I've found a forum that deals with BIOS modding, though it isn't 100% working.

But of course TrashZone I will do the reseating and hope that it will solve it but.

Yeah I guess.

I haven't really looked into it that much because I got the impression that the risks are on the same level as doing overclocks so yeah I wouldn't do it with the costumers computer but surely you can give it a try.

Just be careful, and I would make this like the very very very last thing to try!

sorry for late reply, it's Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

But I'm quite certain that it isn't a hardware issue because the motherboard was recently replaced.

Sorry for not staying active on this issue, but the costumer already came and picked up their laptop so I'll just mark it solved but I reckon that the problem lies within how HP configures the laptops and that you would need a qualified HP engineer to get it fixed.
