Solved 5.1 Surround Sound not sending bass to the subwoofer

Hi. I recently ordered a Frisby FS-5020BT, along with an Optimal Shop 5.1 external sound card. For some reason, stereo audio doesn't redirect low frequency sounds to the subwoofer channel and instead only utilizes the front left and right speakers. When playing 5.1 content, such as a Blu-Ray movie, all 5 channels and the subwoofer are used, like they are supposed to. When I run the sound test in audio playback devices options, the subwoofer does vibrate. Is there some driver I need to install to get stereo audio to utilize the subwoofer, or will I just have to get used to no real bass when playing music from YouTube? Any help is appreciated.

Hello and welcome AnimationGamer mate never having used external cards I cannot comment the best advice I can offer you is to get a decent internal sound card for the ?desktop.

Personally I run the Asus Xonar DG card in all my desktops and it is brilliant. The interface is just the bees knees as far as I am concerned and you can mix and use any combinations of frequency and sound effects control.
They are not expensive or difficult to fit - just a push in and screw the clamp down at the back plate.

See, here's the problem. I would get an internal card (and that would've been my first choice) but I have what I guess you could call an unusual setup. My computer sits on a desk toward the back of the room, and an HDMI cable runs through the ceiling, connecting the computer to a projector. I have a card table right underneath the projector which acts as my desk, and a 10ft USB extension cable hooked into a Sabrent 13-port USB hub is the only way to allow my keyboard and mouse to connect to the computer. That being said, the subwoofer is about a yard and a half further away from the desktop. This is why I have the external sound card. I hook the card into the USB hub, and its cable plus the 3ft 3.5mm to RCA cables reach the subwoofer just fine. I know I could probably get RCA extension cables to make everything reach, but I would like to see if there is a way to make this work without putting more money into this thing than I already have.

As far as I know, the external card works just fine. When playing a movie in surround sound, the sound does come from all 5 speakers plus the subwoofer, and the sound quality is absolutely amazing! The only problem I see is the driver software that came with the card doesn't allow the audio enhancements tab in speaker settings.

Well I think I have a idea what you are doing and I probably would have set up something similar but I might have gone for some sort of Blu Tooth set up but you have already shelled out for what you have

Actually, it's funny, I specifically got the surround sound system I did BECAUSE it had Bluetooth. But then I found out that Bluetooth does not support any output besides stereo... that's when I ordered the external sound card.

So the machine does not have Blu tooth on the board if not I cannot see why an internal adapter card would not do that.
I am thinking that because you can transmit stereo via that medium from portable devices to say the TV etc
I stand to be corrected of course.

Ok, here's the deal: the surround sound system is Bluetooth capable, and so is the computer. However, Bluetooth is only capable of stereo sound. I want 5.1 surround sound, and that is why I have the external card. All I want to know is how to get YouTube to send bass to the subwoofer instead of ignoring its existence.

Ok now one of my sound set ups is a Logitec 5:1 and it plays 5:1 through the Asus Xonar card (and the GUI) even though it is just hooked up with a stereo lead. In fact the card I think I stand to be corrected will go 7:1 if pushed. So I can't understnd why you cannot get the 5:1.

Animation sorry I couldn't be any more helpful mate and to be honest I would be using a set up like mine with just a stereo cable running from the machine to the sound system.
Anyway someone might come up with something. It is a pity the audio on the HDMI cable couldn't be utilised somehow eh?

Ok, so my computer definitely does not have the speaker fill option for my sound card. I was about to give up hope for being able to do this, when I started messing around with settings on the surround sound unit itself, and found that it has its own speaker fill mode. So, problem solved. Thank you all for trying to help anyway!
