I have been using an old public domain program called dirman.exe, from the DOS window, as a directory manager. I have great affection for the old girl.

On the new 64 bit ACER, of course, it won't run, and the supposed compatability options fail miserably.

Anybody know of a cmd window multifunction file and directory manager/viewer that works in 64 bit environments?

Is there any way to make Q-Dir open a file for viewing? Not execute it, just look at it.

None of those programs had anything like the functionality I need. With dirman I could:

1. Inspect any file, and change the view from ascii to hex;

2. Sort any group of files by alpha, date, size or extension;

3. Mark groups of files with the space bar and copy or delete those files as a group.

Is this functionality available in the new, 'improved' era?

Pretty functional. Does it have a service for looking at attributes, manipulating them?
