7 for Dell 2350

Not sure on some of your questions, but I can say that you will not be able to use screensavers or aero effects because of the video. I would try to push your Ram up in your system quite a bit more. I am running it on my old Dell Optiplex GX260 with these specs:
I have 7 Pro working on a 2350 as well or better than it did with XP, but some upgrades were necessary. I installed a Sparkle 8400GS PCI video card, Syba 150R SATA card, 160gb Hitachi SATA hard drive, and G.SKILL 2 X 1gb memory kit. (The 2350 memory limit is 2gb, not 1gb like the manual says.) I also upgraded the CPU from a 2Ghz Celeron to a 2.2Ghz P4.

It's surprisingly snappy and in fact the Windows Experience index is better than a neighbor's two-year-old mini-ITX. Just to push it, I attached an external 3tb hard drive via eSATA and it was fully recognized without any issues.
