7 RC as main OS?

Hey guys,

Do you think using the RC of 7 is a good idea to use as my main OS? I have a genuine Vista and I could reinstall it any time I liked if I had to, but I dont wanna use it as my main OS only to find out in a few weeks that its gone to crap and I have to reinstall Vista. It would be easy enough to do but its not something I wanna do as I wont be making any backups.

Im using Vista 32 and 7 64 at the minute but im quickly running out of space and I cant find anymore stuff to delete so what do you think?

Windows RC Build 7100 is set to expire March 1st, 2010.

You've got a bit of time before that and by then you'll likely have purchased a copy of Windows 7 (retail). So I say stay with RC for now. I have been using Windows 7 since the first Beta was made public.

I've been running Win7 RC1 for my primary OS for quite some time. I've got a legit copy coming in Oct...so I will be changing out then....but even though I technically have a legit copy of Vista for this machine, I've chosen not to use it.

I've been running Win7 as my primary OS since January without any major issues (I do have a storage driver issue with my RAID card, but it's solved by not using sleep/hibernate).

I have access to licenses for all the OS's through my TechNet subscription, so it's just a matter of choice for me.

Alright then thanks for all your replies.

Can I overwrite Vista with Seven without having to get rid of all of my programs? Keeping in mind my Vista is 32-bit and im hoping to install 7 64-bit.

Nope you can upgrade from vista 32 to win 7 32 but not to win 64. A clean install to win 7 is actually better even if it is a pain.

You may miss vista but on for abt 15 minutes. thats how long it will take you to install win 7. Win 7 may not be 100% problem free but it pretty good.
