Hey Guys,

Ive just installed Windows 7 Ultimate x32 (upgraded from XP)... Now, it all went fine, then on the final cycle of restarts THIS screen appeared. Its very odd. Random symbols, letters and coloured squares...

I now cannot get past it, or use the computer...

Any ideas?

Before this, it all worked fine... So i dont think it's a GPU thing or monitor thing...

Try booting into safe mode (F8) as it looks like a gpu driver and in safe mode a std vga driver will load instead.

You did check to make sure your hardware is compatible with win 7 right?

Oh...

Well it seems that the system didn't pass for running Aero. That shouldnt matter though right, as i can just turn off the frills of Aero?

Hopefully! It's an integrated chip, so upgrades arent possible. The pc has run WoW and some FPS in its time though, so surely it can manage some simple OS features...

Anything 7 related crashes my computer! But WHY!?

Okay, this is a wierd one...

I attempted to install 7 (ultimate and THEN home basic) but everytime, without fail, it will load up to the point of the splash screen, and then suddenly just turn off.
EVERY TIME!
So, i cut my losses and went back to XP. I then installed a Windows 7 theme/skin and the SAME THING HAPPENS! It loads until the splash screen then turns off.

Normal XP boots fine. Install a simple windows 7 visual skin and FAIL!

I just dont understand... Could the PC be struggling with a visual DLL that it cant load or what?

Where did you get Win7 - confirm the IS0 is intact by checking HASH. If you burned it yourself, burn another at 4x speed with ImgBurn. How do you plan to activate?

Or install via USB flash stick: install UltraISO trial version, on File tab open ISO, on Bootable tab Write Disk Img, Format button, Write button. Boot under USB or HD's from BIOS Boot menu.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS version update. If so, reset the CMOS: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/clearcmos.htm

Then in BIOS setup set the SATA controller to AHCI first, then IDE if necessary.

Wipe your HD of all code before reinstalling Win7 as you have corruption remaining on the HD.

Follow these steps to get a purrfect reinstall based on hundreds done here: http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/125874-re-install-windows-7-a.html#post1086729

Hello niickooo, welcome to Seven Forums!

Here's the link to the tutorial that outlines the Wipe (secure erase) process by booting to diskpart, this is the best way to get the best possible install of Windows 7 by writing zeroes to the entire Hard Disk Drive.

SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

DISKPART : At PC Startup
