...but if people think it's so great...why not just pay for it?

...maybe because it's cheaper NOT to pay for it,and it's a lot funnier?

There's a difference between leaked and released (to manufacturing).
This build might be the RTM but it's not official announce yet.
We will see what happens this week.

My first build!
I am sorry, but I have to say this:

It must be nice to go through life being smarter that anyone else. That is what I am reading from some of those who are posting to this thread. Not at any time have I said that this is the final RTM, only that it is a leaked RTM build. I have shown the winver window indicating that it is an RTM build, and still there are those who just can't believe this is a leaked version. So, to those who continue to indicate in some form or another that I am stupid and do not know that this is not a final release may you continue to be great computer experts, and help others who aren't. :D

Lee,

It's a nothing really; I think the bones were being picked out of you saying it's the rtm etc, and the misleading thread title maybe.

Hey we all running rtm builds in one guise or another....non of us are running rtm gold/retail or whatever we want to call it...

Just enjoy, and await the next rtm build leak, and wait for the news of final :)

As usual, there seems to be a lot of 'guesswork' about RTM, yadda, yadda....

No-one know if this is RTM, but who cares? Just enjoy the software people.

I've been using 7600 for the past 3 days, and this is easily the best build so far.
A good RTM 'candidate'? Definitely!! Quick, rock solid, and they fixed 'Restore previous folders at logon'.

I've activated using the 'dubious' activation method, but backed up the 2 essential files, just in case.

We could talk about build numbers, RTM branches etc, until the cows come home (as is every other forum).

No one knows, and I for one, don't give a s**t!!!

Everyone seems to be an expert on this. It pisses me off a bit, when a person finds out a bit of new info or asks a 'noob' question. All of a sudden the 'experts' scream 'fake' or flame the poster. The only way to be become an 'expert' IS to ask questions. I wish that a lot of the others would realise that and keep their acid comments to a minimum.
'Experts' don't run endless virus scans, hash checks or continually back up their 'precious' data. My 'precious' data is nowhere near my PC's hard drive.
Software crashes and corrupts (Rule number 1).

I've worked in application development for over 20 years, and it seems to be a real problem with the IT industry, as a whole. It seems to be full of half truths, buzzwords or outright bull****! (and bull****ters!!!)

Until this 'psuedo' RTM is truly RTM (ie- 'On the shelves') we will never know....

I'm using this OS and it works well... Simple as that.

Easy does it folks.... take a breath ... or two...

What happened to referencing the leaked versions as RTM Candidates?

At least that made it reasonably clear that the leaked version might be the actual RTM or it might not...

Now we have RTM Gold Code? Is there a bronze and silver too?

The RTM will be the one MS says is the RTM. The rest is all fun and games.... it is fun ....right? ;)

No offense Lee if you read any of the other forum threads you would know

sub build number 16384 is not RTM

Already 16385 should leak soon and that is still no guarantee it is RTM

It's actually great for a freebee. The only thing I don't like about it is you can only rebuild exactly the same disk structure you saved, IOW I can't restore the system image to a different partition, like in another disk. But for its intended purpose of disaster recovery it's very nice.

Well, while it does restore the disk structure the way that it was in the backup, you could easily use disk management to resize the partitions after the fact. I'm not 100% sure that with disk management that you can move a partition....but if not, I know for a fact that gparted can do it and it's free....so it's one of my tools of choice.

Dude this type of discussion is dangerously close to getting you banned.. Activation/Crack talk not allowed ...

I should know from experience

I'm not quite sure how Mr Grim's comment could be construed as "cracking"...he merely talked about entering an activation product key...something we all have been doing since beginning of 2009 with every "leaked" release.

Cheers!

☺ NEW COOL TOY: ASUS Eee PC 1000HE w/2GB 800MHz RAM, Samsung 64GB SLC SSD and, of course, Windows 7 ☺
Further to my earlier post... this is exactly the sort of crap I'm talking about!!!

So Lee made an error. Easily done. Of course none of us have ever done this... oh wait... nearly every post about Windows 7, builds, RTM, is awash with hearsay and half truths.

To Lee... The 7600 build does feel a little different (No watermark, expiry date etc...). Maybe this IS the RTM. We won't know until the true build string is finalised, signed off, call it what you want. Enjoy it anyway, I think it's the best build. It works!!!

So, maybe Lee did use the wrong 'language' or turn of phrase. I think maybe, like most of us, he has been keeping an eye out for the final Windows 7 on every forum known to man. No watermark
or expiry date, probably led him to believe he had finally 'scored' the true RTM.

We are all here to help or offer advice or guidance. I find it f***ing annoying that a few have suggested he should be banned for his thread.....

This forum is fast becoming the laughing stock of all the Windows 7 forums. Other forum posters have labelled this forum "a bunch of kids squabbling over build numbers".

What I've witnessed over the past few days, just backs these comments up. And that is a shame.

Listen to the Moderator's comments. He's talking sense!!!

Go ahead and flame if you want... I'm immune...

Opinion over........

I agree, Mr Grim. However, we also don't want people walking around insisting their false information is correct and everyone else is wrong and insulting us.

It needs to be made clear that his claims are not correct, which means resonding to him with facts every time he says we're wrong.
