Solved 800x600 resolution during start up

wew! ive got no replies in my previous thread so i changed the title after googling around the net. During start up my screen resoultion is 800x600 and changes to its native resolution 1360x768 after the windows glowing animation. I read from other sites that it might be a program or driver that might cause the problem. but i my graphics driver is newly updated. IDK how to troubleshoot it. Can anyone help? Anyway i got a Samsung LD190 monitor and a NVIDIA 8400gs graphics driver. :sarc:

Ummm...You don't have a problem. All computers start up with a low resolution when doing a POST. As long as your resolution is correct after you are in Windows, everything is fine.

If you are talking about the initial BIOS screen, thats normal. Your video driver isn't loaded until windows loads so you won't get your high resolution until then. The BIOS screen is a very basic screen and displaying it at a low resolution just insures it is viewable on just about any monitor connected. 800 x 600 is as good as its ever going to get.

If you're talking about the "Starting Windows" screen or the BIOS, then it's already as good as it's going to get as both alphanumeric and logicearth said. It is normal computer behavior.

Nope what i mean was the "Starting Windows loading glowing lights" was offset from the screen. I have read you have to disable "Windows Live Mesh Remote Connection" in services, but i cant find it. So i think it might be different. it just turned 800x600 resolution when i set my LCD option from "Wide" to "Automatic" so it looked liked it was being cropped. but if i set it to "Wide" the resolution will be 1024x768.which the "Starting Windows loading glowing lights" will be offset to the left. Which should be 1360x768 which is my native resolution in order the "Starting windows" will be centered.

Sounds to me like you need to adjust your monitor settings to center it.

This problem should be easy to solve by intentionally setting your desktop resolution to 800x600 after you're booted up, then using the monitor controls to center the image, and then setting your resolution back to 1360x768.

You might've told us about this to begin with as it has nothing to do whatsoever with the startup animation using the lower 800x600 resolution. Well, not directly, anyway.

Just remember the startup logo is displayed before Windows has even loaded the videocard drivers to display the desktop. The reason this works at all is because during startup, Windows accesses the videocard directly through legacy means and simply asks for an 800x600, 256-color screen (otherwise known as SVGA).

This is a legacy screen mode that's always been supported by videocards since the day of games running under MS-DOS and still is to this day.
