8MB and 16MB Hard Drive Cache?

I am thinking of buying a new Hard Drive, I have been looking at a few and have realised there are 8MB and 16MB cache's?

I don't know what this means and could somebody explain this to me?
I need to know if a 16MB cache would run on my laptop?

If anybody know any good Hard drvies ("2.5") preferbally 160GB and quite cheap that would help?

Definitely dont consider 8mb. I only consider 32mb cache sizes for desktop hard drives. Not sure if theyre available for laptops though.

I do not know the prices in the UK but a 160GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache is sold around $60 in the US. The 8MB Cache version is around 10 Dollars cheaper. But I would definitely go with a 16MB.

Above is a list of 11 160 GB notebook drives from major manufacturers. Most have 8 MB cache and a few have 16. Prices range from $50 to $60.

The 16 GB cache will give you a slight improvement in performance for some operations.
