Solved A Crisis Involving 'Unsigned' Drivers

The Netgear driver looks to be installed OK. Do you get a driver signature warning at every boot?

Driver signature warning comes up every time I attempt to reinstall any of Netgear's drivers. If I don't attempt that I can attempt to connect to the internet but it won't allow me due to a Driver problem.

I followed the tutorial and now the adapter's drivers aren't installing successfully. Is this meant to happen and if so, what do we do next?

As a summary of this entire problem, follow Pooch's wonderful USB driver tutorial and make sure you can find the appropriate drivers through the manufacturer/publisher.

It would surely help though if Netgear and Atheros were to sort their drivers out. I have seen no end of complaints in the internet about people buying this device marked as Windows7 ready when it clearly is not and that is a Joke!!!

Open network and sharing center
Click Change adapter setting
right click on your Wireless Network connection and choose status
Click on Properties
Unmark the Jump Start Wireless Filter Driver

Your wireless should now work

Hey whitetomeger, listen buddy.. Just uninstall the current driver.. Reboot it and run it in safe mode. Then re-install it. Then again reboot it.. In the safe mode window (pressing f8 at tym of reboot) there must be a option something like "disable signed certificate check" or some stuff lyk this (cant remember accurately). Just click on that.. Then ur device wil definitely work, until u shut ur pc down again.. Its a bit like temperarly.. But i will come with permanent result soon. Till then try it..

Hi, i know this post is really old but I'm having this problem now and what you have in the original post describes my exact issue.

1) Reading through this thread I have downloaded an Atheros driver (AR9285 for Windows 7), hopefully that is the correct driver. I determined that particular driver based on my wireless network connection on my Laptop, so hopefully that was an appropriate calculation.

2) I followed the USB tutorial posted by POOCH.

3) After following the tutorial, I went ahead and uninstalled and reinstalled the Netgear Adapter again. Hoping the USB tutorial's instructions would have solved the problem, I still ran into the same error about Windows Requiring a digitally signed driver. From there, I go to update the newly installed driver with the newly downloaded Atheros driver from the link Pooch has provided.

Windows tells me the software for the device is already up to date.

So i'm back to square one with no clue as to how you've solved your issue. Can you take a second to state clearly the steps you took? All helps much appreciated. thanks
