My ex - boyfriend wants to get back together with me. Since I do not want to get back together since he did a terrible thing and dumped me on my birthday I am thinking of turning him down by telling him I am already seeing someone so that he would not feel bad about this situation.

Is this a good way, or I should just tell him the truth?

I have a daughter who was married to someone like that. Despite all the information I gave her about him, she refused to believe it. When he eventually left her and my grandson to live with and then marry someone else, she was absolutely heartbroken. Now he has been married and divorced twice and is living with a much younger (and less attractive) woman. My daughter has a much better partner, a beautiful daughter, great job, happier life.

But you may have spared yourself an experience something like my daughter's. Have a great life and understand that there are better men out there.

I am really sorry for what happened to your daughter! Poor girl! But I am happy she is happy now! My father also told me not to get back together with that guy and now from your post I am sure he is right.

To answer the questions of the others, I already mourned for that guy when he left me on my Bday for a week but I think today I fully recovered since I went on a date with another guy. Yes, the date lasted only 15 minutes before he 'ran away' so to say, but hey, it was worth it, I got over the previous guy!

I think one of the reasons might be because I always blush very much when I am on dates. I just can't help it

I think it's never too late to learn something new.. or turn a minus into a plus.. my late hubby was shy as a young adult he told me , I'm outgoing, when I noticed him..I ask about him, if he was available, I drove by where he worked, his sisters came by where I worked.. lol ..one day I casually dropped by his work place again.. his nephew was hanging around the pole where stopped to buy some gum.. he quickly ask me , "Are you the cha-cha girl ?" I smiles and replied , "Why did you ask the question "
he looked sheepish, yell to his uncle .. She's here !!!, from there, I was ask out on my first date to the midnight movie " The Key " with Sophia Loren, with what was to become my hubby of 40 years,and one daughter. He was an older guy, by 6 years.

Love can happen when one least expects it to arrive.. NEVER give up hope !!!

It is true that love can happen at any time in our lives so I'm not completely pessimistic - all those younger attractive girls out there that so entice me are probably beyond my reach though. We don't seem able to alter who we find attractive.

My shyness had the same affect when young - hanging around and never being able to communicate with the girls. I found out a few years back that one schoolgirl I liked used to come to my house and do the same but I never knew about it. As you say, being positive, which I mostly am, and accepting of whatever happens may just result in what I would like to see as my future.
